Good News!

St Johns Jacksonville

The House of Angels has moved into a new location. We have been working all month cleaning, building and furnishing our new office location. At this location we have access to both building including a kitchen and a church sanctuary and rooms to have gathering. The House of Angels is excided to launch a new program called “One to Build On.” We are able to offer the community of Springfield and surrounding areas in Jacksonville, resources to bridge the digital divide in poor neighborhoods by offering computer education and access to modern technology to those without access.

As of June 2011, the Springfield community now has a computer repair service.  The community also has access to computers, community resource, computer hardware training, E-learning, computer upgrades and repair, and also will be able to recycle their computers and laptops.  All upgrades and repairs of computers will be affordable and fixed by certified technicians. The repair jobs benefit the nonprofit training and jobs-creation programs of at the House of Angels.

“One to Build On” Computer Repair Program

“One to Build On” Computer Repair Program

The number of children with access to computer and internet is growing but there is also a growing gap. This gap is defined along economic lines. Children with less access to technology are at a major disadvantage compared to those children with more access.

We see the initiative to place computers in the homes of these children and to give them training in basic computer skills, as an effective way of providing equal opportunities and narrow social gaps.
